Producing a live TV show is something special. Of course, every event we stage is a precisely timed unique production, characterized by strict procedures. However, when 15 cameras, live direction, broadcast vans, stage managers, make-up artists and costume designers work focused towards the start of the show, when you know that even the smallest mistake will be broadcast in real time to half a million viewers and the first images will pop up at exactly 9:05 p.m. on TV screens, the stakes and the tensions are high.
Even after 18 years of production routine it is always a special occasion when the Vienna Hofburg is transformed into the ROMY headquarter for a week. In 2020, the Coronavirus put an end to the glamorous award show in front of a large live audience. At present, the ROMY award show is broadcast as a digital format on ORF.
