In February we won the tender of the Vienna Mobility Agency (Mobilitätsagentur Wien) to organise the event series “Geh-Café“. On guided walks, participants get to know Vienna‘s “Grätzl“ (neighbourhoods) and can learn about the latest news for pedestrians in a relaxed atmosphere. All tours conclude at the colourful pop-up Geh-Café that offers room for discussion and conversation while refreshments and small snacks are served – provided in an environmentally friendly way by Rita bringt‘s on a cargo bike. In compliance with the COVID-19 regulations, we were able to organize three Geh-Cafés.
The walks return in 2021. In three themed tours – "Cool Summer in Floridsdorf", "In the heart of Hernals" and "Across the Gemeindebau"– participants learn interesting facts about their neighbourhoods.
We are happy to support the Vienna Mobility Agency again in 2022 with six Walking Café events from April to October. We started with a walk to Vienna's 15th district, around the Westbahnhof station, at the end of which Jakob Dunkl from querkraft architects presented the new IKEA building. Then it was off to LiDo, i.e. the left side of the Danube. Together with urbanist Wolfgang Dvorak, the district of Essling was explored. Before the summer break, the tour returned to the city centre. 100 participants discovered hidden green places in Josefstadt at this walking café.
This is the third year that we have supported the Vienna Mobility Agency (Mobilitätsagentur Wien) in organising and carrying out the "Geh-Café" series of events. This year, we went on a joint exploration tour in Währing, Floridsdorf and Margareten. After a short summer break, we will start at the end of August with an exciting walk through Hernals.
